IJS exists to give owners and their advisers an objective view of the jewellery they hold — carefully examined, plainly described and independently valued.
The practice
Judgement built over time.
Independent Jewellery Services is led by Nicky, who has spent 29 years working in the jewellery trade. That time has been spent with the pieces themselves — examining, comparing and understanding how jewellery is made, sold and replaced.
The practice is deliberately small. Instructions are handled personally, so the person who examines an item is the person who writes the valuation and the person a client speaks to afterwards.
Independence is the foundation. There is no retail counter and nothing to sell alongside an opinion, which allows each assessment to be exactly what it should be: a professional view of the item in front of us.

Every instruction is handled by the same hands, from first enquiry through to the issued documentation.

Clients frequently hold pieces of considerable value or personal significance. Matters remain private.

Work proceeds at the pace accuracy requires. Where something cannot be established, it is said so.
